Beginning with a foundation in basic Western music theory (scales, chord progressions, etc.), and customizing repertoire to prepare you to sing your favorite music in whatever genre(s) you choose. $200/month ($50 per 1-hour weekly lesson)
Beginning with a foundation in basic Western music theory (scales, etudes, etc.), progressing to improvisation training, and integrating repertoire to fit the goals of the student. In addition to training as a soloist, student will be taught ensemble/collaborative performing. $200/month ($50 per 1-hour weekly lesson)
About
Garrett Whipkey is a native of southeastern North Carolina and a lifelong musician, currently serving Raleigh and the Research Triangle area. He holds a BA in Music from Western Carolina University, where he studied saxophone, voice (operatic tenor), piano, and composition. He has held staff singing positions in premier choirs including All Souls Cathedral (Asheville, NC), St. John’s Cathedral (Denver, CO), Duke University Chapel (Durham, NC), and currently, Christ Episcopal Church on Capitol Square (Raleigh). He has performed with choirs in venues including Westminster Abbey and Carnegie Hall. As a singer and saxophonist he is fluent in classical, jazz and pop, and prioritizes helping students to perform the music they love most.
